PRESS INFORMATION
Cis-Lunar is back….

When Cis-Lunar and Bill Stone launched the legendary MK5 rebreather back in 1998 it became an instant sensation in the diving community. For the first time ever, a state-of-the-art, fully automatic breathing apparatus for ultra long dives built with the safety and ruggedness necessary for advanced cave exploration and technical diving was available. The MK5 systems built and sold in 1998 and 1999 are still in use by caretaking owners all over the world and are to this day considered to be the best-in-class device for technical diving. The dot.com crash in early 2000 prevented Cis-Lunar from financing mass production of the MK5 and the success story seemed to come to an end.

But now, Cis-Lunar is teaming up with a Swedish industrial group, DP Scandinavia. The joint venture will focus on innovative and high quality diving products, and the commercialization of underwater technology developed by Dr Stone and his crew of talented engineers. DP Scandinavia, based in Marstrand on the west coast of Sweden, has recruited a team of well known and experienced rebreather divers, including Paul Heinerth and Richard Pyle from the USA, Barry Coleman from South Africa, and Hempa Henriksson from the Arctic part of northern Sweden to support business development, product testing and evaluation.

Dr Bill Stone is recognized as a world authority on cave exploration and advanced technology development with more than 120 engineering publications and 11 patents. In addition to the Cis-Lunar project, he currently leads the development team for the NASA Europa lander third stage prototype – a fully autonomous underwater vehicle designed to explore the sub-ice world of Europa and to search for the first microbial life detected off Earth.

“We strongly believe that American ingenuity and Swedish quality is a unique and winning concept. We will jointly develop and launch a series of innovative products aimed for serious recreational and professional divers and are convinced of our competitive edge,” says Dr Stone.

Forrest,
At present there are a few things going on.
ISC (maker of the Meg rebreather) is talking about licensing the MK5-P radial scrubber so they can distribute the product in their product line. This would provide them with a radial scrubber similar to the PRISM product.

Taking a total stab in the dark- I would stay the set point for price would be in the 10 to 15k range. Most rebreathers are in the 8-10k range and the newer Boris is in the 12k plus range. So we’ll see what happens. Taking the MK5-p from exploration unit the next generation will be interesting to see what they change or keep the same.

I keep hearing rumors that the Diverite unit is doing very well in Florida…
Regards, Andrew
