The social is postponed, probably until December 31, due to the conflict with the Emerald Steps project.

ooh... and the next world champion cave diver's scooter race. Who was it last year that won? I think they won by mistake... I'm sure they won't win this year... Bigger trophy this year I hear...

I was looking through what was replaced when I restored the database after it was hacked this afternoon. I assume the following came from Bill or Mike?
Thanks,

AND...we have a cave in the park you can dive :-D And a rather nice swimming hole as well.
I need to clairify the camping rules at the park so we don't catch anybody off guard.
$10/night per site, 2 tents per site & up to 8 people per site. Extra vehicle charge if more than 2 vehicles per site.
No reservations, first come, first served.
Walk-in tent camping ONLY, no campers or pop-ups. You need to pack your camping gear in around the gate and leave your car in a designated parking area. The furthest you should have to walk your stuff in is about 100 yards and we have a wheel barrel you can use.
Water and electricity is provided at no extra charge at each site.
Bring fire wood, gathering of fire wood in all of Florida's State Parks is prohibited.
Pets are allowed but on a 6ft leash and you are responsible to pick-up after them. They cannot be left unattended and if they are a problem during "quiet time" (11pm-8am) you will be asked to board the pet outside the park.

You are not just saying this to spare the feelings of last year's winner being shown to be a fluke are you

Hmmm....does that mean we are even going to be able to see the trash we are supposed to be able to pick up in the cave?
Sorry, couldn't resist - I have learned the hard way that when some people say viz is going to be a little low they are really saying is, "Don't expect to be able to read your gauges."
:-D
But seriously...I would love to help with the clean up.

The scooter race is held in openwater in the basin. Not in the cave, it a go to the ball turn around and comeback timed event. Do you think we can do that?

Don't worry, I will figure out a place that we can have the race.............!
Right now I'm a little concerned for the fires here in New Smyrna Beach where I live that are coming to close for comfort.

I hope everyone is well there in NSB. My folks live there on the river so they are fine I'm sure but we have plans at Sugar Mill Sunday that look to be in danger.

The last time i dove Lafeyette was in 84.As an openwater diver we went in one side,i think it was called yana, and swam under the road to the basin.Iwas wondering if it was still open.Is there a line there now?and can open water divers still use it.Iremember just as you lost light from one side, you could start seeing it on the other.Ididnt have a light back then, and when we popped up in the basin, the locals swimming there thought we were nuts. There were also hundreds of barbours map turtles in there.Any current info would be helpful.

Pat you might find some interesting things in there. We found twisted line with an attached glow stick the last time we were there and picked up a good bit. However what you said about the not being able to read you gauges wasn't true until we started retrieving stuff out of the silt on the bottom. Tons of silt and three of us with an OK on the line, holding trash in the other hand as best as we could while exiting made for a fun dive. Having a net to place the trash would be helpful. The good thing about the system though is the flow is pretty decent so it washes "clear" pretty fast. At least where we were located.
