So recently I have been messing around with the concept of head mounted lighting. I decided on using a pair of Pelican "Stealth-light" dive lights, which run on 4 AA each and I was going to mount them on an old

Pro-tec skateboarding helmet.
I originaly was going to go through the trouble of milling two alluminum blocks to the shape of the lights, and then mounting them to the sides of the helmet. This would insure that they pointed straight

I later decided that this was too much hassle for a peice of equipment that is only going to be used by a n00b like me, so I settled on the low-tech solution. Which was to mount the lights on top of the helmet using zip-ties, suprisingly they point almost perfectly straight forward, and the pair of them are pretty much all you need for directional lighting in a cavern
(you cavers would probably want somthing more substantial)

here are a few pics of the rig:

I found that the sides work best... only because anything on the top seems to be a "target" for things... ;)

Not bad though... bet its bright... :-D

I have also found that with them on the side it does not cause any glare on your Gauges but what ever works for you it lokks good but me like Tegg I would hit them on top of cave in some spots.

I shot a little video so that you can see how bright it is compared to full sized light
you can probably see my dog running around in the bottom of the screen, lol

I agree with Tegg, try mounting them down on the side of the helmet. You might also want to replace the zip ties with some bungee cord. If you have not been in the water with it yet, be prepared to strip a good bit of the foam out of the liner.
