View Full Version : My latest dive report!

Hey Friends,
I was under the water in the pool yesterday for 35 minutes! I felt
great once again. I would have done longer, but we were monkeying
around getting my mask positioned correctly, it kept leaking in the
beginning. But we got it worked out. Next time in the pool I would
like to hit 45 minutes and go to the deep end and see how I can
tolerate going deeper than 5 feet.
My friend and dive buddy Drew moved me around under the water all over
the pool as well. At one time in the pool I was about 5 feet under.
I was able to be rolled onto my stomach at the end of my dive session,
it was a blast. I didn't even need anyone to support my head in that
position.
My other friend and dive buddy Frank took some great pictures and
videos, the pics are posted on my page here...

This is so much fun to be doing! Take care everyone.

This is indeed fantastic news Matt 8) I could see the grin on your face as i read your report; talk about an accomplishment. I think I am starting to look forward to your first actual dive more than you are. I hope things work out to where most of us can be there with you when you take that plunge. Keep us updated with your progress, it is such an inspiration to hear of your accomplishments. Dive safe buddy 8)

When you get to the definite planning stages, be sure to keep us updated Matt. I would love to be there when you make that first dive so I can see that grin firsthand. With enough notice I am sure that I could make it to wherever you end up doing the dive.

I'm like DeWayne Matt...I can see the smile on your face from right here in middle Georgia. But I tell ya son, just the thought of ya getting to roll over on your stomach like a diver almost brought a tear to this veteran cops eyes. I tell all my dive students they will always remember their first breath under water.........WAIT TILL I TELL EM ABOUT YOU !!!
Keep up the heroic effort bud....I'll see ya at a dive site soon !

Hi John, I love every minute that I am uw. Maybe you will be at my first OW dive, who knows?
Take care Matt
:-D
He would be absolutely amazed Matt-!
You're doing great pal. One thing that may help you: if you are able to keep your arms & hands close to your sides, you will find your swimming profile to be a lot easier. It's not a biggie for now Matt, but the fact that you are against all odds to be doing what a lot of healthy folks will never experience. The art of becoming a SCUBA diver.
Thank you for your persistence.
Your friend,
Jack

Hi Jack,
Thanks Jack, you've been a great friend to me. Yeah it's too bad superman isn't around anymore, he'd be great to have on my side.
And yes, I do need to figure out a way to keep my arms at my side, maybe some weights? It sure feels uncomfortable, crushing my arm when it fills up with air, before it's let out lol.
Later dude.

Hey Matt, ain't zero-G awesome? Sorry my friend, but you won't EVER get enough of it! You're hooked just like all the rest of us! Sounds like you're having fun (like you're supposed to) so you've got to be on the right track. Just remember, it's not a destination, it's a journey. None of us actually ever "get there". There is no "there". Push hard and enjoy the ride!

Hey Alan
Thanks for the inspirational message bud. I will enjoy it all the way. Yeah I am addicted, o well. Better to have that kind of addiction than one to cigarettes or something. Diving is just so much fun.
Take care,
Matt

It is great to read all the updates. I love to get those updates and read them in the middle of the afternoon. It makes my day go even better knowing that you getting closer to the o/w.
Possibly put some velcro on the inside of your forearm section and close to your mid section on your suit to help keep your arms down a bit. Just a thought.
Keep going Matt. Robohips
