Since Slim requested dive reports, I'll make an attempt. Be aware, this is my first dive report on this board.
Sat 10/15/05 my buddy Dennis and I attended the Midwest Social. We were intro certified back in the summer; this was our first social, our first dive in a MO cave, and our first cave dives since our FL training trip.
Dive 1: 72 minutes I was really glad there wasn't a big crowd around during our shore entry; it wasn't pretty. The only witness was one of the local residents who was fishing; I'm sure he had a good laugh. This is a skill we need to work on. We did two laps up and down the main line of the upper tunnel. On the first one we took a peek down into the gravel pit and on the second lap we swan around the dome circuit that Slim had put in. I was surprised at the size of the cave. We spent the last 15 minutes or so poking around the cavern. I never noticed any flow. Vis was good with at least 20 ft.
Dive 2: 62 minutes Two more laps up and down the main line of the upper tunnel with one trip around the dome circuit. Even though we covered the same ground several times, there was plenty to see; we never got board. Again, we explored around the cavern for several minutes to finish our dive.
I got to meet Slim and Alan, and see the "skull" who I had already met. With only five divers in attendance, we all did pretty good on the door prizes. Special thanks to those who donated the prizes (I'll let Slim identify the donators, I'm scared I would leave someone out). Extra special thanks to Slim for getting it all together.
The weather was great, the company was great, and the diving was great. I don't think I'll be able to wait until next year's social to dive RBD again.
