While exiting OG a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a strange insect bite on the inside of my leg. It was inflammed & unlike most skeeter bites I 've ever gotten. Two weeks & 6 days later with an average fever of over 102f & cold chills & shakes, with not much of an appetite, I've been told by an authority that I have probably been bitten by a 'son' of Bin Ladens. Let me tell you it is extremly uncomfortable, not much sleep, re-curring high fevers with shakes & chills to go with it. I had no idea until tonight what to think. First light in the morning I will be headed for the Walk-In Clinic tor the treatment. TJ kindly asked me to accompany him & Angie today on a local dive. I would have loved to normally, & I would have been excited to meet someone new. But, I am sicker than a sick dog right now, & I hope I can get thru this soon.
Just to give you all an idea what this 'bug' may be like-!
Take care you all.

Hey Jack, if you're not better quickly be sure and check back in to the MD. There are still some nasty bugs out there like West Nile and Lyme Disease. I had a version of Lyme about two years ago. Nasty stuff but easy to fix once they figure out what you have. Take care and get well soon bud. Cindy :)

JE, I hope your trip to the Doctor pays off. I had a similar experience at TBS. I was given bed rest for 4 days with lots of antibiotics for much longer. The doctor diagnosed mine as Lyme disease (there are lots of ticks in northern Virginia).

I hope you feel much better soon!

Best wishes and safe caving!!

P.S. I don't think this is the kind of bugs they had in mind when they started this thread.

Thank all of you for your kind words.

I'm afraid it is more serious than a bug bite. I was diagnosed with a bladder infection, more than likely picked up while diving in the Wekiva River a couple of weeks ago with TJ & Bob. They haven't complained of any disorders themselves, so I guess I'm the lucky one. I will more than likely be checked into ORMC later this afternoon for treatment. So, I guess I'm out of the water for awhile. Anyways I wanted to say thank you for all of your support. That means a great deal to me. I'll get back to you here after this is over with, & let you know how I'm doing.
Most Appreciatively,

Jack Evans

"I'll get back to you here after this is over with, & let you know how I'm doing. "

Hi everyone. I was sent home last night from the Orlando Regional Medical Center with some restrictions on activities for awhile. It was one very long week end for me. The diagnosis was a number of things, ie: food poisoning, swimming in contaminated water, OTC cold tablet/blood infections, & they are still doing a number of other tests, including a liver biopsy. So, I'm not out of the woods yet, but I am home. I'm feeling weak, but hungry. My temps are normal, as is most everthing else at this time. It will be some time before I can dive. I am very thankful for all of the staff at ORMC, for they treated me as a VIP, & both the doctors & nurses were wonderful. Every dept. head, surgeon & resident doctor looked in on me & made sure that none of them will ever be forgotten. I am humbled by this whole thing. Thank you for being patient with me, & for your prayers as well. I will write more to all of you as my health improves, but for now, I just wish to again say thank you for your support.
Warmly,

Jack 8)

Holy crap dude! Have they been looking at your immune system? Seems strangely coincidental that you would be diagnosed with so many maladies at once. Had mono in college (shut up TJ) and that was not fun. It was hard holding myself back once I started feeling a little better to keep from relapsing.

Cranberry juice, not a curative, but a preventitive for urinary tract infections.

Take care, rest up, and you'll back out there.
