"JE took me then to the amazing place that he "ridge walked" near High Springs. Sinkhole with vertical even hanging rock wall about 40-50' high (from waterlevel), about 100' in diameter. The water in sink is clear (although this time not blue color) but bottom has a mung type of silt - product of live oaks at the edge of a chasm. Sinkhole has no trash and well taken care of. Banana spiders are abundant and they have the most unique color patterns i ever saw. JE says he dove the hole some 15(?) years ago and at his return point (about 250' LP to the east direction) depth was 50-60'. There was no flow and he didn't find any upstream-downstream ways. Locals use the place as a swimming hole , there is a walk trail on the western slope of a sink. Land is privately owned (farm) and barbed wire fence separates it from the highway (off approx 400'). Approximately 200' south of the first sink there are two fenced vertical chimneys (5 and 10' in diameter) that go down to at least 35' and then turn. We couldn't see if there is any water inside." {Ary}

Looks interesting Jack. Is it hard to get permission to dive there?

We're working on it Tom & should know something by this coming week end. For now, it's on the QT & shouldn't be attempted until we get the ok to ck it out. Thanks for asking, as it is an awesome & very unique karst environment.

:)
