Safe diving,

Think about dry suit booties in a future (if you dive wet now). If booties will fill the pocket. I know a person who had to buy jets because he won't fit Bare boots in his favorite DR L. DRs are awesome fins however i saw broken plastic pins that required their replacement with ss bolt and nut. Also some older DR springs have bold short rubber moldings. Those are better to replace with a bike innertube cut in enough length to compensate for spring stretching. Otherwise springs may catch the line.

I have like 4 pairs of jets, turtles, and other fins of similar design and I just eventually put them in the dive bag on the top of the self (you know the one).
Right now I'm usin' OW aqua lung fins or if Im doing a dive in a big cavern I'll use my free-diving fins (each is about 4 feet long, lol)

I switched to DR from turtle fins just because the more negative turtle fins tended to pull my feet down a bit. Both performed well, but it feels like I can get a slightly better kick with the DR's when pushing hard.

Couldn't get Jetfins on over my boots.

I have just bought a Whites drysuit with evolution boots. I wear a size 9-10 any recommendations on a fin since my jets will no longer fit.

What size Jets do you have? I would have thought that the XL would fit a size 9-10 foot with the rock type boots with no problem. Try the XXL Jets, the big footed goomers that I know who have used them, love them. How do you like the Evo boots?

Do you actually know someone with feet/boots big enough for these? I bet I could roll up my drysuit and store it in one of these fin pockets.

What was Scubapro thinking?

They seem to fit Kenny P's gunboats really well. The nice thing about them is if a site gets blown out, you have the option of doing a dive in the fin pocket

Doesn't that require a "Contaminated Water" C-card?

Are you talking in the general sense here, or after Kenny has had them on?

I was thinking ... If you need XXL Jets ... Do you Really NEED fins ???

jet fins also make a good defense weapon. They are so heavy that you can knock someone down if he is trying to steal your O2 tank.

Seriously though, I would go at Bill's and try the DR and also try the jets. See which one I like better.

It's not that these fins are for big (long) feet. The foot pocket is about six inches tall. They look like they would fit those shoes Fred Gwynn wore as Herman Munster.

boy I opened a can of worms. I can only get toes of my evo boots inside my size large jets. I am contemplating getting some new DR's but I have no idea what size I need or would I be better off with a larger size of jets. please help. I do not want to buy the wrong size.

If you are currently using L jets, then definitely try on a pair of the XL's. The nice thing about the boots is that you can take them to your LDS to get a better idea of fit. The XL jets seem to fit most, with the exception of those who have gunboats for feet and use rock boot setups. SP answered their complaints with the XXL's, which have a very huge foot pocket. The nice thing about the DR fins is that most dealers close to water will let you try a pair before purchasing them. Go to your LDS and see what fits you best.

VERY good advice to try both...I may STILL give my GF's Jets a try for that retro-feel (they were my FIRST Overhead fins)...

I now use the DR's, as they seem to be patterned somewhat on the original Fara II's that Sheck and Mary Ellen turned me on too...nabbed a pair of THOSE on eBay, and they STILL ROCK! If anyone wants to try these Heritage fins, lemme know...but you HAVE to listen to Gerry Rafferty while donning them!

Thanks guys, the local dive shop here in Ga does not carry Jets or DR they have to be ordered. I will be and Luraville in October and I'm sure Bill will let me try a pair of DR's. Thanks again

jet fins also make a good defense weapon. They are so heavy that you can knock someone down if he is trying to steal your O2 tank. Especially effective if you use them along with chrome plate pressure gauge to hit the bastard, then you suffocate suspect with 6' hose.

The only questionable about DR fins are plastic buckles: you can use stainless steel nuts and bolts to replace plastic pins but they still will go through thin plastic buckles. Should they be aluminum...
