2005 Scooter Race Trophy

Here are a couple views of this year's Cave Diver's Scooter Race trophy. This is the biggest yet... The trophy will be on display at Cave Excursions Luraville thru Friday.

Probably the number one hardest thing about winning this race is showing up. We have to hold the race early before the place gets too crowded. 9 a.m. I believe. Is this right Bill Rotella?

Someone is going to win, and hopefully earn, this thing. Will it by you?

Wait a minute guys: You want me to pick up the keg in High Springs, & then expect me to be able to enter my El Diablo for the race by 9:00am-! I don't think so-! I need to be on the bottom of Ginnie by no later than 8:00am if this thing is going to fly-!

How about I go for the Keg after the race-?

We don't need beer that early in the morning, and we certainly wouldn't want to encourage drinking and driving, or scootering under the influence of alcohol (water okay).

Folks,

with a "Big Crowd" of people expected at Ginnie for the Holiday, and talking with the staff at Ginnie, if we are going to race, it will have to be as soon as we all sign in at 8:00AM The race was originally set for 9, so the gun will have to go off before 9am before the crowd gets there or we might have to cancel and I know we don't want to do that. After the race, we can go get the keg, and I am going to Sams probably Friday Night.

See EVERY CONTESTANT, suited up in full cave gear, and in the water for a 8:00 AM START TIME. If you're late, you snooze, you lose!

We need to be at the 0ffice at 8 am when they open to sign pay and sign our waivers. The race will begin as soon as all contestants are in the water.

I'm not setting up the course, so I don't really know. Last year it started and finished at Little Devils. The turn around was at Devils Ear and it was a solo timed course.

The race will begin at "Little Devil" and go up the run around the dive ball at Devil's Ear and back, then you need to load your gear and head to Daytona to be entered in the "Firecracker 400!" 8)

We have a 2005 Scooter Champion!

Rob (Lastname?), won the scooter race by one second!

Rob says "it was too easy, with no real competition". Robs says a lot of thanks goes to his sponsor, Bill Rennaker, for lending him the scooter.

More details will no doubt follow, with pictures soon (by Wednesday)...
