Is anyone else seeing a map to Lake Denton at the bottom of all these pages?

I don't.

It's down there...the URL of the image is http://www.scubadiver.cc/pictures/lakedenton.jpg

There is also the entire header for http://www.scubadiver.cc/ (the code is in the HTML). It doesn't really show up in IE but if you use Firefox you should be able to see it. I was always curious as to why there was so much being served from www.scubadiver.cc

If you go to the bottom of the page and click your mouse under the last box (sposered by Dayo Scuba, etc...) and drag it to highlight what is underneath you should see it (small but you will note something is there). The something else is the HTML to the entire www.scubadiver.cc home page (21K). So if you are seeing some lags in rendering the page it is because of this. There are also some ads in the code.

Here is an image to illustrate

Not sure why this is starting to happen but it is a nuisance at best.

I went in a checked out the source of the page...

<font style="font-size: 1pt"><font color="#FFFFFF">Search the Dayo Scuba Site</font> (http://www.scubadiver.cc/search.htm)<font color="#FFFFFF">
</font>

Notice that the font size is 1 point (really small - there are 72 points to an inch), and the font color is solid white which happens to be the same color as the background. If you drag the mouse with IE it highlights the text and turns it into a visible color.

I imagine that FireFox is handling the display somewhat differently than IE for some reason, and that would explain why you see it and I don't.

Yeah...Acutally it isn't just that line. There are actually 353 lines of code from www.scubadiver.cc included on each www.cavediver.net page. I am just curious as to its purpose since the existance of this cannot be an accident.

In case anyone is curious, here is an image of what is being put at the bottom of all the pages after it is unhidden. The hiding technique that was used was to make all of the fonts white and make their size the smallest it could be.

Why am I obsessing on this? No idea, just that kind of day.

I don't see lake denton on mine (i use firefox).

I do see the very small text which is the same color as the webpage.

Since both sites are owned by TJ, I don't see a problem with it as it is just links... :)

Good point Tegg...Just wondering why everything was hidden is all. Decreasing the page size by 25K would be nice though.

The image comes up on mine because of an add on I use. The link to lake denton actually uses a .jpg file in the anchor tag so it won't show up unless you are looking for exploits.

It's one of many methods one can use to increase web site placement in search engines. The more links to a site from others, the better.

Not sure why you are seeing a map when the code (link/url) was intended to be just a link.. I can't see an image from firefox or explorer... but not a problem to lose that one link...

Figured that was the reason. You know there are some other methods that are more acceptable to the major engines. I know this is your biz but it is mine to. Let me know if you want to discuss. You could really decrease your payload coming down the wire.

Yeah...this is the offender. Because of what I am using, it will do a look ahead on linked images and giveme a thumbnail. I do a lot of "security" work on sites so this helps look for bugs...
