View Full Version : Eagles Nest - Visibility back to normal if not worse!
I did a dive at Eagles Nest Wednesday night and the visibility was excellent (100'+). This is the best that I have seen it since 1999.
I did another dive at Eagles Nest this morning and the visibility was a little worse than normal (40').
How quickly things change! Have a great weekend!!!! :)

40' ? Ha!!! You must be related to Hal... I would say about 10' in the basin and not much more than 15' in the cave (upstream)....

Sure was a shame we missed Wednesday's great vis, today. Especially after lugging all that gear & lights into the water... Oh well, one day... :(

Well, just down the road, diepolder III was great...hard to say an exact number but well over 100 feet; as far as our lights would go...i dove a 10w hid in one hand and a 21w in the other...a HUGE difference. The basin was a mess but the cave was stupendous.

Dove there yesterday (Sat 6/11). Below 10' depth in basin vis ~25-30', "cavern area" vis ~30' and tannic, improving beyond p300' downstream and Lockwood Tunnel vis to ~50'.
Although the road was wet, careful navigation got a 2WD truck and a mid-size car back there. Max water depth 6-8" in the ruts of the big puddle shortly before the Nest.
Be careful and enjoy!!

Jay (Titen) ... We have been getting lots of rain for about a month now! The visibility was still good after the first two weeks of rain and then the visibility made a major shift in less than 36 hours. Maybe the rain has a delayed effect? The visibility was better after the Nest was dry for several months. 8)
