Quit your day jobs and get to the Nest. The basin is clear and the cavern is crystal clear with 100' plus vis. Upstream is a delight with 100' plus vis. Even if you stay in the cavern you will not be disapointed.

Yeah, I heard that also.....just trying to figure out if I could get a 2WD 7500lb ambulance back there, as it would be a hell of a tow bill to get out ;-)

anyone....anyone.....

Rich, you would be suprised at were all thoses ole Van Amublance can go with the right tiers. I have taken them places that you would not belive me but then also I have had to be towed out a few times also, worst when you have to call another unit and wait for the tow truck to come get you.

Rich,

The roads out there are honestly really good back there now. We were at the Nest a few weeks ago and a couple drove up in a new VW Bug...They weren't worrying.

Honda Civic, Sentra, small VW models, they all make surprisingly decent off pavement vehicles with patience and some creative driving. At least until you get into something that really requires clearance. There's a lot to be said for a light, front wheel drive vehicle.

Or, as a couple of kids on a 4-wheeler told Joel as he was trying to nurse his truck through a particularly nasty mud/hidden boulder hole...

'Drive it like you stole it.'

I believe this follows in the same vein as 'speed and inertia can be a reasonable substitute for skill'.

I believe it. I was at Peacock one day after a long hard downpour and the potholes were completely full of water. On that day I was in my wife's car a Highlander. instead of my non existant ground clearance Eclipse. I though I was going to get water inside the Higlander it was so deep. I was diving with Andry/ARY that day and looked at him in his car. a Toyto Echo and offered to cary his gear from Orange down to P1. Andrey told me no problem that its a lot better road than the good roads in Russia and plowed straight head full stream. His idea process though was to hit the high side of the hole and miss the deeper spot sporting some speed. He later told me it almost did not want to turn until he almost hit the tree at the first pothole and that his alternator did not want to work for a while while it dryed out. While the front wheel drives will pull good sometimes you need the clearance. ARY a trip anyway the way he loads his car up. He got tanks everywhere and he straps them in like kids. When he got it full the headlight point up like he taking off. But I got the hand it to him he got it really organized!

If you drive fast enough, your suspension doesn't get time to drop your tyres into the potholes.

Admittedly, the corners on the way out of Peacock can be a ##### if you're driving like that. But what do I care? I've already lost my driving privelege in Florida  . See you Saturday :-D
