I'm FC/BM/OC/noDPV and will be staying on the Mill Pond 1-5 July, diving the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I have Edd's larger pontoon boat reserved and am staying in the trailer home behind Cave Adventurers. There's room for you if you need accommodations. I'm thinking of doing JB, Twin, & Hole but since I've only been up there a couple of times, I'm open to suggestions.
PM if interested.

Dave,
My buddy and I are planning to dive JB the morning of the 1st, but it sounds like you won't be there in time. There is still room on the boat if you want to dive the Oriskany on 7/3...

Thanks very much for the offer, Capel. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make it to Marianna until late Friday afternoon. Good luck with the O, though!

Damn this phone and my fat fingers. Now gf was meant to be fc for full cave.
As for the don't ask don't tell....they can openly serve now.
And as for my Yukon. You would be surprised what I can dive.
And as for the fiance she said I can have a gf if its either kyra knightley or Anne hathaway. I just hope hugh jackman or gerard buttler never cross her path.

Thanks, Adam. I'll look for the Yukon if I can't setup something more definite.
BTW, do you think JB will be a parking nightmare that weekend? I'm planning on using the pontoon boat even for JB that weekend. Edd said something over the phone about a new pavilion and floating dock that's for diver's only, but I may have misunderstood.

That is one of the worst weekends at JB, so yes, it will be a nightmare. The line of cars will likely be close to a mile long down Blue Springs Rd. There is a new pavilion "Reserved for Handicapped and Cave Divers", but no one pays attention and I've seen arguments there. Just saw one on Monday between a woman with a major attitude and an older gentleman that was disabled. I've also had my stuff pushed aside while in the water and my table taken over. I won't go there unless I can get there before the park opens. And I don't go there while the park is open unless I'm teaching. The floating dock is not reserved for divers. If you go by boat, you still have to tie up to the trees and swim under the dock to the entrance.

not to mention I dont see that floating dock being very back mount friendly

It's very BM-friendly. You lay your extra stuff (scooter, stages, mask, fins) on the dock or hang it in the water (I tied three nylon ropes where it's chest-deep), then put on your doubles and enter the water just to the left of the dock. Wade out and collect your stuff, then go diving!

I was thinking hitting JB by boat first thing in the morning, then going elsewhere for the 2nd dive. What time does the park open for cars?
Dave
It's supposed to open at 10:30, but I've seen them open earlier, especially on weekends.

We are diving JB on Friday morning (7/1), will the locals be out in full force on Friday?
Probably. It's pretty busy there all week long. There's a spike in attendance on Fridays. Seems lots of locals take 3 day weekends around here! Just get here early so you can get a good parking spot and once you leave, make sure it's for the day.

What confused me was that the lower parking lot was supposed to be "handicapped and cave divers only." There were a jillion cars there, and they lined up closer and closer to Pavilion 1 as the day went on. Of course, this was Memorial Day, the first day, so maybe 1.) they hadn't gotten things worked out yet, or 2.) they weren't worrying too much about it on such a busy day.
Is it still this way?
Yes, it's still this way. If you want to park close to the handicapped/cave divers' pavilion, you need to get there before 10:30 (10:00 some days). Even though there is a sign that states "Handicapped Parking Only" at the top of that hill, no one pays attention to it. And last week there was an argument between a couple of people in the pavilion. Funny thing is it was a handicapped guy and some ****** woman. She came to the pavilion going on about how she didn't care what the signs said and the handicapped guy got in her face and chased her off. I just kept quiet and watched the show. Some people have come up and asked about the pavilion and I just say it's reserved for handicapped people and cave divers according to the signs. I tell them I have no problem with them sitting at a table as long as they're available. I haven't had any issues yet. But I won't show up after the park is already open and won't leave to get fills because then I'll have to park at the far end.
