Places to stay in Panama City?

My dive buddy and I are headed to JB and then to Panama City area over the 4th of July. We plan to dive the Oriskany after making a couple of dives at JB on Friday the 1st.

We are taking the wives and my daughter. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to stay in the PC area? We would prefer to stay west of the strip where it would be a little quieter, less crowded and closer to Pensacola.

A house is probably not what we are looking for. A condo complex with a pool would be preferred. It does not have to be on the beach, so a block or two off the beach would be fine.

As for pools and amenities, the Majestic towers are really nice. They have pools (indoor and outdoor), restaurants, gym, and movie theater onsite. I stayed in this unit (http://www.vrbo.com/287282) and it was nice, but the room was better at the Ocean Ritz.

If it were just the guys, I'd be up for that RAL, but the Boss wants to go to the beach. We'll stay in Marianna Thursday night, but must head to the coast after diving JB on Friday.

That's an option, but it makes the trip home 1.5 hours longer...

You are going to drive the extra 1.5 hours (twice- and that's if traffic is light on the way back to PC) to dive the Oriskany anyway- right? Personally I'd stay in Pensacola so as not to have to get up at 4 (or earlier) to make the 6-7AM departure for the charter. but that's just me...

The charter boat leaves at 8:00 am so we will have to get up early on the day we dive offshore. The key is not to be hung-over:)

I used to dive jb with a got who lived in pensecola. Took him just s bit longer to get there then it did me. I would look in destin for a place to stay. Wives will have the outlet malls. And its in between
The o and jb not to mention its a lot nicer than pc.
