Plus VS He

I have been diving the Nitek Plus for the last year and just picked up an He.... noticed the He is a bit more conservative....about 6 minutes more conservative....anybody else notice this? any reason why? It seemed they both showed the same length of 10' stop, but the He counted down very slow and actually took 7 minutes longer than the plus. Just curious....still like it though, great computers.

I use one of each on every dive. My dives are not too long (I almost never have enough deco for a 20' stop), but on every occasion the two computers clear within two minutes of each other. I wear the Plus on my left wrist and the HE on my right.

I do the exact same as you.... rarely a 20' stop for me, it usually dissapears when i switch to 50/50 at 70'... i wonder if this is why my computer was so different. I went from 30 mix to 50/50 back to the 30 when my bottle ran low on my ten foot stop...not sure if that pissed it off to switch back.

I think the HE is overly conservative. An example is diving Eagles Nest not to long ago. I ran the HE in computer mode (buhlmann) and cut tables on decoweenie (same algorithm, buhlmann). Dive profile was Max. depth of 285, getting back to top of debris cone to pick up travel gas at run time of 25 min. Gas mixes were 12/50, 36, 100. The HE still had over an hour of time at 20 foot stop AFTER tables has cleared. So I tied the HE to my spool, and left it at 20 feet. Of course, after an hour I tried to reel it in, but it snagged on a branch, so I had to skinny-dip after it. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I agree that it is a little overly conservative... My buddy had one that would sometimes really nail us on the longer dives we did with multi-level cave... it doesn't like you doing stops it doesn't give you also "slow ascents" etc...

I dive both a Plus and HE on shallow Cave dives. The Deco time is always identical on air or Nitrox. However, I find the He too conservative on deep mix dives and use a VR3 instead on such dives as well tables.

these computers are starting to annoy me... i just got back from working a three day live aboard and wore both computers for the nine dives I did.... all dives were to about 115-125', pretty much square profile, usually a 10-18 minute deco schedule, which dropped down when I jumped onto either a 50/50 mix at 70, or some 85% at 20'.... both computers pretty much were right on the whole time untill the last dive when the plus jumped into a 17 minute hang and the He only gave me a 5-6 minute hang. It also seems that it may give you a certain time to hang and then the time does not count down that fast... give i may not be at exactly 10 feet, but usually around the 13-14' zone. weird.... my captain got pissed, but i didn't feel like bending the computer or myself, so I hung it out for the required time. weird.
