P3 first marked jump

we dove p3 yesterday (11-29) and got off the gold line into the first marked jump. The line in there needs attention. We noticed slack in the line and made some placements to take it in, but it looks like a descent length of it has come slack and sunk into the silt. We turned the dive when we got to an area that wouldn't be negotiable with BM tanks without some serious plowing into the silt, i think its the third small section shown on the map, near the end of the tunnel. be aware that the lines current conditions would pose a hazard to someone lacking skill in low silty areas. i would be appreciative if someone would inform the appropriate line committee members. also, is the end of this tunnel even negotiable without plowing into the silt? it looks like it's building up in there, even for sidemounters. thanks and safe diving.

Did you happen to see the indian pottery on the rusted drum? If it wasent a state park it might be on my mantle.

i didn't see the indian pottery, so maybe i just didn't notice it or someone with no morals decided to take it for their mantle. it always sucks when you find something cool or important; part of you thinks "it's for everyone to enjoy" and then you think "well someone else is gonna take it if i leave it." even if it did get heisted out of there thanks for leaving it so the rest of us might have a chance to see it.

I found that pottery last year and hid it in the cavern I guess someone else found where i hid it and moved it to the drum, the idea it was out of the way so some slob would not find it and put it on the mantel. I was on the floor right by the main line tie in point. I bet I had gone over it 75times and not noticed it. I hope it stays there it was a really nice piece

Why is it the line committee's job to fix minor issues like this? If you see a line that needs fixing, then fix it. The guys who volunteer their time for the line upkeep aren't being paid, and I'm sure have a long list of fun dives they'd rather do each weekend.

Two reasons. One there is always bitching when lines are fixed in common systems & it sometimes leads to line movement wars. The second is that this particular line should probably be fixed solo due to the silt that will get stirred up in the repair.

In the past I would have asked Janet if she wanted me to fix and she would have OK'd me going in alone to do it. She is gone and it is not the same now. I found this line broken a few months ago & someone else was going to inform the line committee. I don't even know who the line is on it now.

I really thought it was their job to make calls on placement, or relining entire tunnels. Replacing or tightening somewhat small sections of existing line is something I thought fell upon individual divers. Curious to hear if the committees or other divers disagree.

James G. is correct, if you see a line in need of repair, repair it. Then report it so more extensive repairs can be made.
