Locals that frequent Rum Island State Park in High Springs have reported caves in this part of the Santa Fe River. If you drive through the parking lot you will see an island and supposedly the caves are on the other side of it. Anybody know if this has been checked out.

The rumor is that the deep exploration of Ginnie connects with the spring at Rum Island. That is the push.

Rum island is not a State Park. That has nothing to do with whether it is connected to Ginnie though.

Rum Island Park and spring--I stand corrected. The rumor does exist, but I not sure that any cave does.

James is right. There's no way that the current exploration goes to Rum Island. That rumour was started by someone who didn't believe in surveying the passage that he found. His "guess" was waaay off.

I've not explored the woods around Rum Island, but I have poked around in the vicinity. That area is interesting. There are some old river channels/oxbows, that have exposed limestone at the surface. hypothetically speaking, water-table caves should be common in those areas.
