I have a 40 filled with 02 in case of emergency but it has a normal reg, does anyone know of a DAN 02 type valve I could put on a regular scuba tank to be able to use the free flow reg for an unconscious diver?
maybe a free flow reg type thing that could be used with a normal first stage or an adapter for the medical 02 reg?

I would like to have an 80 filled with 02 as we sometimes are in very remote areas.

Thanks

Phillip

Hola Phillip,
maybe you want to watch that video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5m3rslp3VE).

The product is very interesting as it takes the O2 from Nitrox tank for remote location dives. That's what I think it does! ;)

I saw one of these at Peacock Springs State Park in February. It looks like a really good idea.

My only criticism is that it is a bit large for what it does. If someone made a small adapter similar in size to this one (http://tdl.divebiz.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10_30&products_id=539) but with the correct flow rate you really could just put it in your pocket and be done with it. Perhaps in a bag with a nasal cannula or even better a pocket mask.

For emergency oxygen I carry a spare Al 40 filled with O2 using a standard oxygen clean first stage and the GDS-RMS (http://www.omscloseouts.com/closeout/agora.cgi?next=10&product=O2_Equipment) second stage I am good to go for a spontaneously breathing victim. The orange pod thingy on a low pressure inflator with a pocket mask like the GDS-PKT (http://www.omscloseouts.com/closeout/agora.cgi?next=10&product=O2_Equipment) might make a nice addition for a diver that is not spontaneously breathing.

I have not personally been involved in an emergency where oxygen was necessary, but at least where I dive there are usually more diving cylinders filled with oxygen than medical cylinders.

If it ever became necessary, I suspect any cavediver would be willing to push the purge valve on an O2 deco bottle to keep someone alive until the ambulance arrived. Well in FL anyway. It might be a long time in the D.R. I suppose.

Here's how I did it:

1) Buy a medical reg with a CGA 540 fitting, something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Access-Point-Medical-Oxygen-Regulator-/130385443200?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b93f980

2) go to someone like northeast scuba supply and get a male DIN fitting with either a male or female 1/4" NPT on the other side

3) Get a male CGA540 fitting from a welding shop with the opposite 1/4" fitting to the above on it.

4) Screw 2) into 3) using some teflon tape, then screw 1) into 2).

What you now have is a medical O2 reg you can either use on any welding cylinder or on your deco tank. Last, get an O2 mask. The best are probably wht ones with the little reservoir bag:

It costs under $100 to assemble this little system. I take this with me wherever I travel, and have donated a couple to dive boats that I use often. Several people have used it on one of those boats for niggles after a dive.

A "niggle" is when a part of your body objects, but not very strenuously. We use it quite a bit in CA, usually to self-justify our decision not to go to a chamber. On one occasion I really regretted that decision - that "niggle" lasted about 6 months!

Yes that, that Andrew wil work I have done it but the CGA 540 is thee fitting that is used for a storage tank of O2, give me a day and I can get you the fitting that he is talking about to use a Med Reg for O2 delivery.
