Another rainstorm moved through the area yesterday afternoon not too long after I made a dive at Hospital Hole on the Weeki Wachee River. There has been a lot of rain in that area for the past week. Hopefully, it will not affect your dive at the Nest.

It was the first time that I have been in there in about 10 years. I dived it frequently in the late 80's and early 90's. My son-in-law has been bugging me for awhile to dive there, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane. Some new tree limbs and a lot of sand has fallen in there and have reduced the depth on the west wall by several feet. I never got any deeper than 137'. The river water also had a green tint to it. I have seen it a lot clearer.

Just got back from the dive at eagles nest, the basin was still clear but the water in the ball room was dark and the visibility on both sides of the debris cone was 20-30 feet. They did get some serious rain in hernando county on saturday.

BTW, Having spent some time doing deco and pondering the cement cross near the o2 bottle drop in the nest i was wondering who scratched the "He Lives" into the cement cross...even though i was there on easter sunday i did not appreciate the defacement of that cross as i'm sure it is a monument that has meaning to some (i do not know its history and maybe somone can enlighten me? I do know, having watched the early nest exploration video that someone died in that process and the cross might be a monument to that event). It is difficult for me to fathom the workings of the imbecile mind that produces these pathetic scratchings.

THe "He Lives" has been a part of the cross for at least the 8 or so years I've dove there. About a month ago it was filled in with algae and I rubbed it off with my hand. Resolute will back me up on this.

Ever notice the face carved into the outcrop above and to the left of it?

Hey Drew, thanks for the info, i had never noticed it before and given it was easter thought that it was a new addition, i guess the name chip was there as well? The scratching did not look like it was professionally done. I didn't see the face carving but will look for it the next time. Bill
