I`m coming down in april and thinking of diving extensively Jackson blue. Have never been there. I heard there`s recently been a new dive shop that fills nitrox. I would need the name of the shop, how to reach it, and also a referal for some cheap lodging in the erea that allows divers....Hope i`m not breaking any rules. Thanks already....

Bernie, I just was up there for the first time a few weeks back and JB blew my mind :-D Edd's a great guy, avid cave diver, banks nitrox and also rents boats if you'd like to access Twin and Hole in the Wall!

I'll see ya when you're down....

Safe diving,

Rich

JB rocks. (Hi Rich!) :-D

Yeah, Edd's the man around there..... there are decent and reasonable lodging options in Marianna, and if you need it and its dive-related, Edd's got it. Good guy on top of it.

If you're going to dive there more than six days in a year find someone to go in on an annual pass. Its $300 for either one or two divers - and you can use it individually once you buy it. Edd usually has a list of people looking for someone to "buddy up" for the trip to the sheriff's office. Bring cash for them - they don't take anything else.

Hole and Twin are cool too; you CAN scooter to Twin from JB (done it) but if you're making a day of Hole & Twin just rent the pontoon. Easier and you get "Sherpa" service (by ATV) for your tanks to and from the boat and fillstation up the hill :D

April is a GREAT time to dive there - the temps are reasonable (neither freezing nor smoking hot) and the 'skeeters are nowhere near as bad as they are later in the summer. Plus diving is open all the time - from Memorial Day to Labor Day Tuesday - Sunday the park is open for swimming and thus closed for diving during the 'daytime' hours (the diving board is directly over the hole!)

Hey Edd!

Bernie, I've gone down there twice and dove with Cave Adventurers both times and it's a great operation. Makes the whole thing easy as can be, and the other caves in the pond should not be missed.
