It's been almost 5 years since we dived the Sweet Surprise/Main Land circuit and plan to do it again next week (11/12-15). Last time was on OC and this time on CC. I remember the crossover tunnel being tight, but nothing like Cow, for example.

Anyone gone thru it on CC? If so, any issues?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I aborted a dive going through there recently - I decided it was a bit tight in CCR. But I was pushing an extra bit of gear at the time - if you're not pushing anything it might be doable. My "buddy" (who I didn't see again for another 1/2 hour :( ) certainly got through fine with a hammerhead.

Thanks. BTW, what was the extra bit of gear you had?

We typically drop al 80s on the Main Land line on a set-up dive (we start by going up the Sweet Surprise and then crossing over), so not planning on going thru with anything but a sidemounted al 40. We're using 7L bottles for dil (2 on our canisters) so we have a little bigger profile than standard HHs with 3L bottles.

Let's say it was a large camera.

I had twin 85's for bailout - going with just 1 40 each will make it easier, but it's a bit tight on gas. I'd at least take 2 40's each. It's scary enough being back there without being nervous about gas.

But you should be OK. If needed you could briefly push the 40's.

have fun! I LOVE that passage, especially Mainland.

at least some people carry enough gas for themselves still...

I thought we all did that... ;-)

That's one of my favorite dives, but I do it OC - no voodoo gas machines for me, just a set of 108's, my UV26 and my buddy AL80 tucked up close and tight.....

Sadly, no. There is the "team bailout" concept. It is fine, unless the team gets separated, or there are multiple problems.

Thanks,
i dived it three weeks ago with two other ccr divers. we each had two 80cfs on for bailout. one was on a meg, one on a kiss, and me on a revo. none of us had any issues, other than a bit of silt. it was a bit tight at times, but nothing that made me uncomfortable. have fun and be safe

Thanks for all of the replies.

Got the chance to do the dive last week and noticed 3 things:

1. Last time I did this dive you could not see the entry tunnel to the Sweet Surprise from the gold line, as there was a sand buildup in front blocking the view. This time the entrance was completely unobstructed and very easy to find.

2. Last time there was little sign of anyone diving the Sweet Surprise. This time it showed too many signs of having high traffic, at least at the beginning (same for the Main Land line). Very sad.

3. With my bigger profile (Hammerhead with dual 7L dills + AL 40 bailout + my tummy has grown a little) the first and the last restrictions in the cross over tunnel between the SS and the MM were pretty tricky, the first one taking me several minutes of trying to get thru.

Had to do the dive solo but found it still to be an awesome dive, and one of my favorites.

Again, thanks for the pre-dive info.
