I notice three CDF members are celebrating birthdays today! I hope you all get to go diving.
EEL, I'm sure YOU will!

Thanks My B-day was spent not diving:mad:
Great Lakes wreck diving in October is hit and miss at best - too windy. Hope to get a trip or two out yet this fall. I will be in Florida cave country in December. The caves are calling......

Thanks,
Spent my day diving Hole In The Wall, and then got a surprise from my buddies, Tanja Pietrass and Jeff Hewlett: Ice cream & cake on Merritt's Mill Pond, now that's a birthday present.
Nice running into you and EEL earlier in the week. What a hoot learning that it was Mark's B-Day, too.
Thanks Sludge,
Yeah I got to put another 70 feet or so of line in the little no-mount cave down here near PC.

No cake waiting for me on the surface though. It was good to meet you too Bill.
Happy Birthday

It looks like antlers. Do you have any cool names for it?

Jeff...y'all must have some scary looking deer up thar in JawJA!
I thought it looked more like a cartoonish seahorse with a big grin standing on his tiptoes...err..tiptail....maybe one of SpongeBob's cave diving buddies...

This is an interesting topic. I do not like the mean and nasty sounding names like Devils Ear or Thunder Hole some caves have. For me personally caves are my happy place. This is why with Tyler's help I named the "Fluffy Bunny Tunnels" a nice happy sounding name. If it was up to me I would take a que from Shirley and call this one The Seahorse Lair, but alas it is too late. This already has one of those devilish like names.
Also my survey skills are sketchy at best. Shirley I hear you have learned how to do this mappy thing wanna come show me what this cave really looks like.

YES!
I mean, um, sure, I could do that, if you'd like. ;)
YES!

Dry cavers often have the perverse habit of granting caves, or particular sections and passages very ironic names. For instance, if you were offered a trip to a cave to traverse a passage called the Fluffy Bunny Trail for instance, you might want to stock up on antibiotic ointment and ibuprofen. And you can't be sure the room called the Crystal Constellation isn't an attempt to lure you through something truly grim.
Sometimes they are literal, but you never know for sure until you've seen The Devils Sphincter for yourself.

Gee Mark, if I'd have known, I would have had a cake waiting on you! Happy belated birthday man.
