If you frequently sidemount, pllease describe and post pictures of your sidemount system here. Also, please list the plus (es) and minus (es) of your system; i.e... what you would like to improve and what you think is most awesome.

Thanks for the information!

I guess sidemount seems to be the "more popular" thing lately...

I figure it this way... if you start going places that backmount won't fit, dive sidemount... :)

My rig is definately an ever evolving project..

This is what it looked like about 6 months ago. I have done many things to it, but the basic "plan" is still the same...

I am no expert in sidemount, I merely built a rig that fits what I needed, so take what I have done with a huge grain of salt... :)

Looks pretty clean Tegg, maybe you need to come up here and drag it through some sumps. ;-)

That it does... It doesn't have enough wear on it yet... I figure some of those sumps up there can help...

Duncan, is the Dragon harness the same as you brought to the NSS Convention? It seems like a pretty good system.

Yes - though I've now got a Farrworld harness as the D-rings on the front are bigger and there is no underarm tape loop. I also fitted it with a crotch strap for scootering.

I think i've finally perfected something i've been striving to assemble ever since switching from backmount to sidemount on a Thomsen/modded Ranger SM BC:

figuring out how to quickly and easily convert my familiar and comfortable backplate into a sidemount rig. It just required addition of a hanging buttplate/lower D-rings, innertube, and stiching 6 additional nylon tabs to my Explorer BC. I'll be testing everything this week and posting some photos here if anyone is interested. I know i've heard from a few other people that have been trying to do the same thing with their BP/harness; if you've tried it yourself, i'd love to hear about it.

I decided it would be fun to show up in a sidemount rig with all the H's on it to drop some DIR jaws!

Too bad Irvine already spelled a preliminary design out here (http://www.innerrealm.co.nz/dir_details.asp?pk=45), but I didn't think that setup fit all our needs, especially getting trimmed out right and getting the tanks sucked in tight under the armpits. His config with aluminum bottles sounds fine for deco, but for traveling any distance....

Too bad that link leads to the Brit's being direspected, especially as they invented the realm ,not to mention they CAVE too the sites. No one deservers more respect in the sidemount cave diving realm than the Brit's IMHO
