Any suggestions on a place that doesn't want to charge me $70 a night to camp in my RV (Ginnie: 2 Adults, 3 Kids, hookups = $65 a night).
Thanks,
Josh

I've camped at O'Leno State Park every October for the last three years and have been very happy. Only downsides are alcohol policy (I like a beer by the fire) and dog policy, but that is the norm at State Parks.
Was VERY happy with a recent stay at River Rendezvous, beer is cool, and docile dogs are cooler. That's over in Mayo but depends on what caves and food you want to be near.

It does seem like alot to camp there but the admission is 12.00 even if you dont spend the night. Maybe small kids are cheaper but you have to figure that in first, then look at your camping fee. Makes you feel a little better about it. Oleno is cheaper and Blue is now since they lowered their prices. No alcohol but some might have a dixie cup full and if your cool about it they dont bother you. Or they havent me.

I couldn't believe it when the girl at the counter told me ~$120 for a tent site with two open water divers and one full cave this past new years eve. And that was two days of diving for the price of one for the CDF Social!

I do believe Ginnie prices themselves out of a lot of business, especially with families, and in particular in the off season. I would have camped at Ginnie the last several years, but the cost is just so much higher with a wife and three kids.
In addition, I would have been diving Ginnie those years (more revenue for Ginnie) but instead payed 17 per night at O'Leno and drove to Little River to dive mostly for free.
A family rate, and/or off season rates ( I realize they rake it in with college students during the summer and need to charge per head and do well with that) would greatly improve their profitability. They have excess "inventory" during the winter months that is just sitting there over priced.

Close by are three other camping areas, Manatee State Park (with diving), Hart Springs Campground (County Park with guided diving), and Lafayette Springs Park (not sure about whether this is a county or state park) (diving is allowed). Only disadvantage to these parks is the closest air fill is CEE. We won't camp in Ginnie anymore because of the drunks, noise, and cost.

We used to camp at Ginnie until we got tired of the cost. Then we started going to River Rendezvous. That's the most economical place in cave country. Close to Cave Excursions, and Peacock, Cow, Little River, Telford, Lafayettte Blue...

Thanks everybody.
Looks like I've got my first two nights locked in at O'Leno and I'll check out the other spots for the remaining time.

Lafayette Blue Springs Park is a state park and about 10-15 min South-West from CE and DO.

Yes its just the wife and me now so its not as bad. Adding diving to the camp and daily entry fees does add up. I think if you buy a Ginnie annual pass[dive and entry free] you should only have to pay the camp fee. Not so, they only let you dive free and get you for the entry tagged onto the camping. Thats not right but I was told thats how they do it.

Hart springs park is one of those secrets that everyone overlooks. It would put you midway between Ginnie and Manatee. Has great facilities, and has camping. http://www.hartsprings.com/
