Hi, We are finishing up our paper measuring the cave diving demand for Jackson Blue. The model we used allows us to develop the value of jb to an individual diver and we have those estimates, what we want to do now is aggregate that to an annual value.

So what i am after is the number of individual divers that dive jb over the course of a year. We have the number of dives per individual diver but what we do not have is the number of annual individual divers. I have developed my own estimate but would appreciate input from those of you that dive jb.

So, over a year how many unique individuals dive jb?

I can't even hazard a guess, since Tracy and I are there about one day a year.

Maybe the Jackson County Sheriff's Dept. or Edd could give you fairly accurate numbers.

That's ok, if you have no idea then don't respond. I have spoke with Edd and with Chuck and they have guesstimates as well. The JCSO records are not that accurate. This approach, an "ask the audience" method often works well as consensus estimates often outperform individual ones. Once I have all the estimates we will combine into an overall estimate that we can justify. Thanks! Bill Huth

I usually take the summer off from JB except for teaching, but I'm there pretty regularly when the park is only open to cave divers. I think if this were the Price is Right, everyone would lose. You would be better to have a range of less than 200, 200-300, 301-400, 401-500, 500+. Although I think 500 is a lot.

You may be right... i will create another poll for those who are responding less than 500. Bill
