Has anyone seen these before? Nightstar (http://www.nightstar1.com/nightstar.php) or Nightstar CS (http://www.nightstar1.com/nightstar_cs.php) Magnetic Force Flashlights by Applied Innovative Technologies Inc. Seems like a great idea for a backup.
The CS lists a depth rating of 160'. That would make it fairly useless as a backup light. I would be interested in from someone who has tried shaking this thing underwater.

Not sure if I would want to compound my problems by having to shake my backup light for two minutes prior to activating it. Seen some places where doing that would render the use of the backup once it fired relatively useless.

Looks like their web site says submersible to 431'.
I just bought one and will take diving when I get it.
Will check brightness (lux) out of cave and compare it to some other lights in the cave. Unfortunately I'm only going down about 60', so forget the depth test.

It would make more sense to have a little crank on it instead of the shaking. It would be more of a backup backup anyway.

It would be funny as hell to watch somebody sit there and shack that thing for 30 seconds every 50 feet.
Which brings up a question, This one dive I was in a slap happy mood and was sprobably a little narced. I looked over at my partner as he put some air into his BC ad I watched as he spun around twice in the current, for some reason this was incredibly funny to me at the time and I couldnt help but to start laughing, which was prety weird with a regulator in my mouth. Has this ever happened to anybody here?
(off topic, eh?)

The smaller of these lights is simply still too big to be practical for cave diving. But great for the car or house.

Ok I see someone is very slow in the cave system if it takes them 20 min. to go 50' it says for a 30 Sec. shacke you could go 20 min. I think that would get you more like 900' to 1000' or at least it should unless diving a siphon.
