6" is standard but the hoses do not last very long compared to a hose that doesn't get bend all the time. I replace these 6" at much high frequency that all my other LP/HP hoses.
I would look into the new MilFlex HP hose.. might be worth the extra money.

Thanks for the miflex tip....but if the hose and is banded to the first stage, does that not take some of the constant movement pressure off and extend the life.... know they do not last forever but looking for best case miflex or not

If it is banded straight, it will help. If you try to hold it at some angle, especially 180 deg, it will develop cracks in the outer sheath.

to band it straight should I use an even shorter hose...like 4 inch....

If you can find one, yes. If you do find 4" hoses, let us all know.

What was the original question?
Is the question hose length on a stage/deco bottle. If, not, what *is* the best length from a deco bottle? I just bought an O2 reg, but don't know the preferred spg length. Or for that matter, is a pony bottle gauge preferred?

I use a 6 inch, bent and tied to the 1st stage for stage bottle and prefer a screw in guage[pony] for a deco bottle, but some are too small to read I like the larger size. Its all preference.

my original question was regarding stowing the hose and SPG but I found a suitable answer...... (sometimes the search doesnt help if you dont use exactly the right words)........
I also use the button guage on my pony but was looking for my best way to arrange my Guage on my O2 bottle.
With miflex, cave line, tubing, velcro and ziptie options..... I was debating best option for me.
Goodd luck in your quest for your most comfortable set up.

I used to do that, but regular hoses don't last very long when bent that tight. I never tried miflex hoses.
