Is this system back-mountable? The surface pics I have seen look really cool and I would like to try it next time I'm in FL.
Thanks

You'll need a boat to get out there, gators are out when the weather is warm and bring lots of insect repellant.

It can be backmounted, but some parts are better done in sidemounts.

I saw a dude get stuck in that vertical fissure crack near the entrance backmounting. Edd and I were sidemount and cruised right thru.

LOL, its amazing that people use that entry in backmount.

I would suggest going with someone who's been there before if your diving in BM. They will help point you in the right direction, not only the entrance to the cave but to get there from the boat ramp.

Enjoy!

We had no difficulty diving it backmount 6-7 years ago... entrance (the right one, not the little ones) were no issue at all, lots to see, did about an hour BT....

Yeah I have a friend from GA that I dove with my first time in FL. He tells me Bozell's is in the 130ft depth range which is a bit much for him right now. I may still end up there with a different buddy, I just wanted to know if I was getting all hopped up for something unrealistic (size or otherwise). Looks like a cool cave at least for the "approach" + entrance

Does anyone have some inside pics they could share?

Stay on the line, or between it and the ceiling, and you won't hit 130'(atleast not anywhere downstream of the first three navigational decisions). You'd have to ride the floor to get that I'd imagine. I think the deepest I've hit in there is around 120' with reasonably high water levels. The other occassions I've been to Bozel have had me even shallower than that.

If you want a look at the inside, Edd sells a DVD video that I believe Ryan Eastman shot of Bozell. The music sucks(typical generic crap), but the video footage is great :)

Thanks for the info! I liked FL last time, just trying to branch out a bit and try some new stuff in the recreational range. While a bit deep I think I'll call Edd and order the DVD for this one just in case... :)

I love that big boulder that is sitting on a flat rock leaning down toward the entrance, makes you want to hold your breath

Talking about it made me throw it in the DVD player. I need to get back over there soon I guess :)

I have some UW shots somewhere but cant seem to find them on this computer. Anyways here are a few surface shots. Its a unique cave, worth a trip out there. Edd and I first dove it together and we didn't know which entrance to go into, he proceeded to try and shove me through some very small holes lol

I think i've hit around 127 in there as well.

Have a great trip!

I am certainly not a real photographer like Becky (Becky your stuff is incredible), but I do have some pictures I took a few months ago at Bozell. Shagman and I were only doing a cavern dive, so I don't have any pictures in the cave.

We thought it was a fun dive...even if we were just doing a cavern dive.

Probably my favorite, of all the photos I've taken at Bozell

You people that link pictures from Scubaboard and Photobucket - that's great as far as saving our bandwidth, but both of those sites are blocked by the school's filter, so all I get is a red X.

I have to wait until I get home to see the pictures, and I usually forget, unless someone makes another post in the thread to remind me.

(Someone, please make a post in this thread after 2:45!)

Thanks all that looks like a cool cave. Do the different entrances join together into one cave in the cavern?

All the passable entrances lead into the same cave, but not at the same cavern. There is a spring entrance with some fun sidemount passage in a basin you get to before you get to the other entrances. The karst window entrance(that leads into the vertical fissure crack) and another spring entrance are located in a second basin that feeds into the first basin. The first spring entrance leads to the downstream side of the karst window. The upstream side of the karst window goes through a vertical fissure and continues on through a short bit of shallow cave before dropping into the deep main section of cave. The second spring entrance in the same basin as the karst window has a small cavern area(larger cavern than any of the other entrances) then continues a bit past daylight to a ledge, at the bottom of the ledge is the line on the upstream side of the vertical fissure, just upstream of the karst window. Line runs through OW in the karst window, which is why I think people use this entrance so much. Line runs into OW(barely) in the first basin's spring entrance. You'd have to run a primary into the second basin's spring entrance and down the ledge to have a continual line to OW.

Thanks to everyone for sharing! I won't be back to FL until Sept, but hope I get a chance to meet some of you at Edd's on the SI. :)

Bump.
Ben M. and I are going to try and hit Bozel's Jan 21 or 22nd (2010). Hope to run into some folks before or after.

Keep an eye on the water levels, the Chipola is up and Bozell can definately suck under these types of conditions.

Here is a video I made with Suprbugman last year...the video was made with a camera so the quality is not great. But it was a fun dive. I didn't take the camera in to the main part of the cave so I don't have any video from that part of the dive.

Check with Edd at CaveAdventurers. I think he has a dvd someone shot inside the cave for sale.

It's on my list!
