Here's my version which uses a mountaineer's prussik knot (slides when not under tension and sticks when loaded):

without having to wind the excess around the handle:

- I leave both my on/off triggers working as I'm left handed and my mate's are not, they can use my scooter as well and easily adjust the strap underwater to length. (This idea is not original - I copied it from Harold who was showing his tablet PC at the social).
